Note: Installation of Byos on a server within Virtual Machines is not a supported configuration.  Any technical issues experienced using Byos in a virtual machine will be the responsibility of the end user to resolve.  Note the terms of the license to confirm compliance with any such setup.

 

User types, permissions, and roles

Byosphere's User Type, Privileges and Roles define rights and permissions in Byosphere. For more information, see this article: User Type, Privileges and Roles in Byosphere

In Byos, user types or privileges are controlled by the operating system (Windows). For input & output files and folder, if permissions need to be restricted please refer to the following:

When creating a project in Byos:
- The raw data files can have "read-only" permissions. Byos does not overwrite raw files. 
- The raw data file folder can be read-only for Peptide projects, but it'd be better to have "write" permission for Chromatogram, Intact and Oligo projects, because those projects create cache files in the raw data folder. This isn't 100% required, but it's good to have for rapid re-analysis of the same raw files.
- The output project file folder must have "write" permissions.
When opening a project in Byos:
- The project file must have "write" permissions. Any changes to the project are saved automatically to the project file.

Testing, access, and support of Byos version 3.3 and prior is no longer available. Please contact support@proteinmetrics.com for information on upgrading your software.
